Osteopathy is primary healthcare system which is regulated by law therefore ensuring all osteopaths meet professional quality standards:  all osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council.

Osteopathy uses many of the same diagnostic methods as conventional medicine to establish the cause of physical symptoms. It is grounded in science, research and anatomical knowledge but takes an holistic,  'whole person' approach. It is suitable for all ages including babies, pregnant women and older people.

Patients maybe referred by their GP, specialist or may opt to see an osteopath independently

To qualify, an osteopath must study for four to five years for an undergraduate degree. This is similar to a medical degree, with more emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine.

Osteopathy uses safe and surprisingly gentle techniques to address many common ailments such as:

- low back pain
- neck pain
- neuralgia (nerve pain)
- sciatica
- arthritic and rheumatic pain
- shoulder pain eg frozen shoulder
- elbow and wrist pain
- minor sports injuries
- tennis elbow
- muscle spasm
- migraine & neck-related headaches
- muscle tension/inability to relax
- knee joint pain
- digestive problems

Osteopathy is probably best known for treating back pain.  In fact, it is a recommended as a treatment for low back pain by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) which develops national guidelines for GPs, hospital doctors, NHS Trusts etc.  This means that osteopathy is a tried, tested and recommended treatment for early back pain.

All our osteopaths are fully insured and have undergone enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks.
